Basic info:
- Jewelry is one of a kind. However, it may be possible to custom order similar pieces, depending on the availability of certain materials.
- Certain styles may be customized in order to match a color, flatter a neckline, etc.
- All jewelry is made with sterling silver chain, wire & findings.
- Some jewelry is described as "antiqued" - This means the silver has been treated with a solution which gives it a darker finish or patina.
- Most jewelry is easily lengthened or shortened. This may involve a small fee, depending on the work involved.
- Hair jewelry is made with silver plated wire. Sterling silver or Gold filled wire is available for most pieces for an additional charge.
-Roses are handmade of polymer clay & may vary slightly from one batch to the next. Hair jewelry with roses can be made to match any color for you. For more accurate color matching, a swatch or picture is required. All roses for your order will be made in one batch in order to be sure they'll match.
Hair jewelry is made to order and completion time varies
Jewelry care
I recommend using a silver polishing cloth, which will remove unwanted tarnish & shine the piece without taking away from the antiqued look of some pieces. Silver can also be stored in an airtight bag, which will delay tarnishing.Custom Orders - are always welcome!
If you are in the MD, Northern VA, DC area, I'll be happy to meet with you to show you pieces in person or to discuss a custom order.
Need to match a certain color? Do you like certain things about several different pieces? Almost anything is possible!
Another option is to repair or re-design an existing piece. Maybe you have a pin or pendant that would make an interesting focal point for a necklace. This is just one way to incorporate something you already may have, that's special to you, into a new & fabulous piece.
Knotting & other repairs
Knotting is something which can be purely functional (keeps beads from scratching their neighbors!) or a nice decorative element as well.
If you have jewelry that needs some sprucing up, maybe re-stringing will help. I can offer a variety of stringing materials, from steel cable to hold heavier beads, to silk which is used for knotting. Feel free to inquire.
Fee for repairs is based on the complexity of the project & how long it will take, plus any additional materials. Please contact me for an estimate at 410-538-7591 or kim@kimbradydesign.com .
